SCOTT ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP ANNOUNCES “THE HIGH SCHOOL
CHALLENGE” – AN ELECTRONIC WASTE FUNDRAISER
KINGSTON, ONTARIO, MAY 11, 2009
 The
Scott Environmental Group in partnership with Waste Electrical
and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Program is proud to announce
The High School Challenge – “Together WEEE can!”
The event is being held Saturday June 6th at the Invista Centre
from 9:00am – 2:30pm. We will be coming together as
a community with our High School partners to collect and properly
dispose of e-waste. Local High Schools will be looking for
their school communities and all Kingston area residents to
drop off e-waste at no cost. Acceptable materials for drop
off include: TVs, computers, printers, faxes and laptops.
Scott Environmental Group Limited will donate $1 per item
collected by each school. The school team which collects the
most items will win a grand prize of $1000 for their school.
The day will include a complementary barbecue, entertainment
in the form of local high school bands and a strong demonstration
of school spirit. We are anticipating 10,000 residents to
participate and take advantage of this green opportunity.
With the help of our High Schools and the broader community,
we are working with the Ministry of Environment’s WEEE
program to achieve the goal of diverting 75,000 tonnes of
e-waste from landfills in the first year. “SEG has a
long and proud history of giving back to the community we
live and serve in,” said Charlie Mignault, Director
of Strategic Development. “this initiative is part of
an our ongoing progress which demonstrates our commitment
to remaining a regional leader in environmental sustainability.”
This is one more way in which SEG continues to strive towards
creating a culture of sustainability with employees, customers
and community organizations in developing solutions to environmental
challenges.
